Start with what the bag needs to do.
List the items it will carry and how the bag will be used. Include product dimensions or a packing photo. A promotional pouch, a retail tote and an equipment bag need different decisions about structure and access.
Separate fixed requirements from preferences.
Document the features that cannot change: capacity, a required closure or a defined delivery date. Keep alternative materials and finishes on a separate list. This makes it easier to evaluate options without losing the purpose of the project.
Make the artwork usable.
Prepare the logo, intended position and approximate print dimensions. Include color references and identify any small text or fine lines that need checking. Review the result on a sample rather than relying on a screen alone.
Put quantity and delivery in context.
Specify the initial quantity, possible repeat orders, destination and requested delivery date. Allow time for sampling, revisions, manufacturing and transport as separate stages.
